When it comes to non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), wheelchair securement is not just a skill — it’s a responsibility. Every trip involves a real person who is trusting the driver, the equipment, and the training behind it. Proper securement protects passengers, drivers, and providers while reducing risk, liability, and preventable incidents.
That’s exactly why CTAA PASS Wheelchair Securement Training exists — and why ongoing, hands-on education is essential for anyone transporting passengers who use mobility devices.

CTAA PASS (Passenger Assistance, Safety, and Sensitivity) is the nationally recognized standard for wheelchair securement and passenger safety in the transportation industry. The PASS Basic Certificate is typically completed first and provides the foundational knowledge required by many transportation providers and contracts.
After completing the PASS Basic Certificate, hands-on wheelchair securement training is required to ensure drivers can properly apply that knowledge in real-world situations. This in-person, practical training requirement is exactly what we provide.
Our training bridges the gap between online coursework and real-life application.
Training Format and Location
This is a 4-hour, in-person CTAA PASS Wheelchair Securement training session focused on practical application, not just theory. Classes are held in the Tampa, Florida area and are designed to give participants hands-on experience using securement equipment, lifts, and ramps.
For large groups or organizations, travel can be arranged upon request to provide on-site training outside the immediate Tampa area.

Who Should Take This Training?
CTAA Wheelchair Securement Training is designed for:
NEMT wheelchair and stretcher drivers
Transportation companies and fleet operators
Healthcare facilities and contracted transportation staff
Home health, hospice, and rehab transportation partners
Anyone responsible for transporting passengers using wheelchairs
Whether you are completing your required hands-on training after the PASS Basic Certificate or refreshing your skills, this session helps ensure consistency, safety, and confidence on every trip.
Why Proper Securement Is So Important
Improper wheelchair securement is one of the most common — and preventable — safety issues in NEMT transportation. When securement is rushed or done incorrectly, it can lead to:
Passenger injuries
Equipment damage
Driver liability
Failed audits or contract issues
Loss of trust with facilities and families
Hands-on training significantly reduces these risks by reinforcing proper technique, awareness, and accountability.
Our Approach to Training
At My Elite Courses, CTAA PASS Wheelchair Securement training is led by a certified CTAA PASS Trainer with real-world NEMT experience. Sessions are intentionally interactive, practical, and aligned with industry expectations.
Each 4-hour in-person session includes:

Real-world scenarios drivers encounter daily
Time for questions and clarification
Classes are offered regularly in the Tampa area, with group and on-site training options available by request.
Taking the Next Step
Completing the PASS Basic Certificate is an important first step — but hands-on training is where safe transportation truly begins.
